Abstract

This paper evaluated the readiness of students to participate in flipped classroom in clothing construction. The study was guided by four research objectives. The one group experimental research design was adopted. The population for the study was 93 B.Ed. Students in Home Economics Department from which a sample of thirty-two (32) were selected using simple random sampling technique. Data was collected using a questionnaire titled Flipped Classroom Readiness (FCR). The research questions were analysed using mean with 2.50 as the index mean for acceptance. The results showed that the students had the needed facilities (mean = 2.80), competencies (mean = 2.79), behavioral intention (mean = 2.87) and environmental factors (mean = 1.71). It was concluded that the students were ready for flipped classroom but had environment related challenges. It was concluded that the influx of alternative learning procedures and use of technology such as computers, internet connectivity, use of iphones and other gadgets, has made the use of flipped learning and classroom relevant to the present day classroom. This will be successful if the relevant materials are provided. Based on this conclusion, it was recommended that internet service and infrastructure in the environment of learning should be improved to aid the use of flipped classroom.
